Green

In April 2026, I’m putting something new into the world — a small zine called Green.

It will debut at the Unbound Book Festival in Columbia, Missouri (April 16–19), before drifting into the coffee shops, tattoo parlors, and music stores of Kansas City. I want it to feel like a little living artifact — something someone might notice the way they notice a flower, and point out to a friend, a spouse or a lover.

I don’t know how Green will travel. What matters is connection with the people in the places I’ve called home and with the spirit of the poems, where green works as a metaphor for what’s growing.

If you stumble across a copy, pick it up and read it. If it’s not for you, then leave it for someone else. But if you enjoy it, I hope you’ll pass it along to someone or take a small risk in your own life.

After all, we’re all under the same sun.

Best,

Jack J. Smith
